Animal Holocaust - Human Holocaust

The little dog above is beyond help. What was left of him, after the "researchers" were through with him, has long been incinerated, along with the remnants of countless other animals. The human beings shown on this page are also beyond help. They belong to the equally countless victims of current misguided, profit-oriented, "official" medicine, and government-sponsored pseudo-research. What you can do is to help us in our efforts to get all the facts known to all the people - the only way to avoid a repetition of the past tragedies and put a stop to the atrocities currently committed by grant-hungry pseudo-scientists, in collusion With corrupt politicians, as shall be demonstrated in this Bulletin.

CIVIS, meaning "citizen" in Latin, is the acronym for Centro Informazione Vivisezionista Internazionale Scientifica (Center for Scientific Information on Vivisection), founded by Swiss writer Hans Ruesch in Rome in 1974. It is also the name of two publishing houses dedicated exclusively to the fight against vivisection.

Under the ClVIS publishing imprint the following AV publications have appeared so far: 3 Italian Technical Reports, 3 French Technical Reports, an abridged edition of the German version of Slaughter of the Innocent, the English edition of Naked Empress, and various brochures, leaflets and posters.

Abbreviations used in this Bulletin:

AV: Anti-Vivisection or Anti-Vivisectionist

NAVS: national Anti-Vivisection Society, UK

The Conspiracy

The first task of every carefully planned conspiracy is to convince the world that no conspiracy exists. That's why very few people know, or believe, that the chemo-medical combine, whose economic and political clout is comparable to that of the war industry, has long since placed special, trained agents into the mass media, government, the judicial system, humane societies, liberal churches, unions and business. Through them the combine can control everything, especially public opinion, and that is why false medicine is permitted to grow unrestrained, unrestricted, and why vivisection can be palmed off as a noble and highly beneficial practice instead of being exposed as the bane that it really is, not only for animals but also for human beings. And thus also very few people are aware of the conspiracy designed to make the world population drug dependent, by establishing health care (state subsidized, i.e. financed by the helpless taxpayer) as a sort of new religion, which may not be questioned.

All of the evidence, for the most part provided by the researchers themselves, demonstrating the disastrous harmfulness of today's medicine conditioned by misleading animal experimentation has been carefully assembled in Slaughter of the Innocent, which thus became the first book to demand the end of all animal experiments not merely on ethical but also on medical grounds. How the media systematically suppress pertinent information and enact propaganda in favor of the chemo-medical combine has been described in Naked Empress. And what role is played by the leading "animal welfare" societies to keep the deception going will be told in this and coming Bulletins of CIVIS. To give a hint of how wide-ranging, effective and real the above-mentioned conspiracy is, consider the following:

Hans Ruesch is an internationally known writer. His books have been published in a score of different countries, two have been filmed with such stars as Anthony Quinn and Kirk Douglas, another is currently under movie contract or in production.

In the USA, Hans Ruesch's other books had all been reviewed, some very extensively, by the national press - New York Times, New York Times Book Review, Time Magazine, Herald Tribune, Chicago Daily News, San Francisco Chronicle, Boston Herald, New Yorker, Des Moines Register, Saturday Review of Literature, Newsday, Christian Science Monitor, Atlantic Monthly, Indianapolis News, Washington Post, AP-Newsfeatures, Philadelphia Bulletin, Book-of-the-Month Club News, and many others.

But when Slaughter came out as a Bantam Book Original in 1978, it was totally ignored by all of them, even though considerable pressure was applied to them by several agencies who tried to get the book reviewed, and advertisements were run nationwide by America's AV leagues. One New York Times staff writer, who had presented an article featuring Slaughter to his editor, saw his piece turned down - without any explanation - for the first time in 20 years. Even the New York Times Book Review, which reviews all books by established writers under a reputable imprint (Bantam Books is America's largest publishing house), and had reviewed all previous books by Hans Ruesch, made an exception for this one.

The Chicago Tribune had dispatched its Bonn correspondent, Alice Siegert, to see the author in Switzerland, wanting to publish a feature interview in its Sunday edition, the day before publication date. Siegert telexed the interview, as requested, but it did not appear. (Weeks laters, a few lines on Slaughter appeared in a general survey of latest paperbacks in the same newspaper.)

In Great Britain, reviews of all of Hans Ruesch's previous books had appeared in the general press - Times, Observer, Evening News, Evening Dispatch, Daily Telegraph, Sunday Telegraph, Star, Daily Mail, News Chronicle, Liverpool Echo, Liverpool Daily Post, Manchester Evening Chronicle, Sphere, East Anglian Daily Times, Eastern Daily Press, Birmingham Mail, Books & Bookmen, Irish Times, Cork Examiner, and others. Not one of them so much as mentioned the appearance of Slaughter when it came out in Great Britain in April 1979 as a Futura Publication.

However, one interview with the author appeared in the Daily Express in Peter Grosvenor's literary column. But neither the long interview by a staff writer of the Observer, nor the equally long interview by a staff writer of the People, which had both been scheduled to appear in the next few days, were published.

Only in Italy, the first country where the book had appeared in January 1976, was the Establishment taken by surprise. The success was resounding, it toppled the old, only AV league extant and produced the birth of a dozen new ones, it got politicians on their feet, public opinion was shaken, and hasn't been the same about vivisection ever since.

Of course, Slaughter is not the only book of its kind that has been quickly removed from circulation, a victim of the above-mentioned conspiracy. In Great Britain, 'Thalidomide and the Power of the Drug Companies', published in 1972 as a Penguin Special, quickly disappeared, and the efforts to have it published in the USA by some "reputable" publisher failed. In West Germany, Kurt Bltichel's 'White Magicians' had to be withdrawn by its original publisher, Bertelsmann. In the USA, the cartons containing 'Laetrile Case Histories', a 1977 paperback, were sent back to the publisher as fast a he could send them out, after all the drugstores, main outlets of paperbacks in the States, had been advised that if a single copy of the book were seen on the racks, they would get no more drugs.

In chemical Switzerland, Milly Schar-Manzoli's book, 'J'Accuse', was ordered seized by the courts in 1982, under the pretext that it offended the leading Animal Welfare society, even though all her allegations against this society could be proved. The real reason was, of course, that the book listed 130 harmful drugs, some of which had been withdrawn from the market in several countries, but not in Switzerland.

As we go to press, we learn that a book just out in Germany, 'Bittere Pillen' (Bitter Pills), has been ordered seized by a Hamburg Court, on the ground that it gave "wrong information" about drugs. Who had decided whether the information was right or wrong? Why, the drug manufacturers, of course. They are the "experts."

Apart from pressure and, when financial pressure doesn't work, legal violence through the courts, apart from censorship and suppression of all pertinent news, the Conspiracy also organises active misinformation and brainwashing through the media. How tens of millions of European televiewers have been subjected to rigged TV shows organized by the State-owned networks of France, West Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Italy after the publication of Slaughter shall be related in a coming Bulletin of CIVIS. State-run networks being financed, of course, by the gullible tax payer: who finances the misinformation he gets.

There is not a crime, there is not a dodge, there is not a trick, there is not a swindle, there is not a vice, which does not live by secrecy. Get these things out in the open, describe them, attack them, ridicule them in the press, and sooner or later public opinion will sweep them away. Publicity may not be the only thing that is needed, but it is the one thing without which all other agencies will fail. - Joseph Pulitzer

BRITAIN'S ANTI-HANS RUESCH FRONT

Colin Smith, former Secretary of the London-based NAVS, current director of its international offshoot, IAAPEA, reviewing Hans Ruesch's 1982 AV book, NAKED EMPRESS, in NAVS' bi-monthly Animals' Defender: "HANS RUESCH DOES THE AV MOVEMENT MUCH HARM"

Thus the roster of milquetoasts, incompetents, infiltrators, and vivisectors who have been running the British AV movement in a way that has enabled Great Britain to emerge as the Bulwark of Vivisection at the recent Hearings of the European Council in Strasbourg, have officially completed their united front against the AV works of Hans Ruesch, the internationally known novelist. The British front was started when his first AV book Slaughter of the Innocent appeared in New York in 1978 under the imprint of America's biggest publishing house, Bantam Books. It was the first book that abandoned the traditionally apologetic and defensive stand of antivivisectionism in favor of a lucid and formidably documented attack on animal-based medical research, accusing such research as being not only useless, but damaging to the point where modern medicine is widely being regarded as the principal cause of disease today.

As the first AV book to win the praise of a large number of medical people, Slaughter gave new hopes to thousands of frustrated anti-vivisectionists, and brought the message of abolitionism to uncounted thousands of English-speaking people all over the world, as it had done in Italy two years earlier, where the original edition had appeared in Rizzoli's publishing empire.

But like all novelty, Slaughter alarmed the entrenched, and by the time the book came out in England in 1979 under the imprint of Futura Publications, Britain's rich, old established AV societies were fully prepared against the calamity: they stonewalled it with total silence, except BUAV, the oldest and richest of the lot, which launched a furious diatribe against it.

WHY?

Question: Why would any AV society want to discredit an AV book that was making converts by the thousands, including, for the first time, many medical people? Answer: Obviously, an honest, sterling society wouldn't. Only an infiltrated society would. Because Slaughter was the first of close to a hundred previous books on vivisection that exploded the myth of the utility of the practice. It brought massive evidence - corroborated by an abstract of the history of medicine and the opinions of hundreds of medical authorities - that animal experimentation could be stopped today, and medical science and human health would not suffer from its elimination, but much rather greatly benefit by it.

WHO WOULD SUFFER THROUGH ABOLITION?

1) The various animal breeders associations, like the multinational Charles River Breeding Laboratories, Inc., one of the fastest growing stocks over the past few years;

2) The manufacturers of accessories to the immense carnage: feed, cages, restraining and stereotaxic devices, and the vast arsenal of surgical and torture instruments;

3) The politicians who keep pocketing large sums from the vivisections lobbies,  bent on keeping the profitable system alive and growing;

4) The pharmaceutical companies, of course, who require scapegoats for the poisons they manage to palm off on a gullible world population as indispensable for health, whereas they are indispensable only for their own profit;

5) The self-styled Humane societies, including most, if not all, the largest old established and therefore totally infiltrated SPCAs in the UK: the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, whose patron is the Queen, and the majority, if not the totality, of the sclerotic AV organisations whose various "Funds for Alternative Research" are their most profitable nest egg.

In fact, those AV societies' favorite appeal today reads: "The more money you contribute to our Fund for Alternatives, the quicker will vivisection vanish." It sounds like stringent logic to the simple-minded, who fail to realize that advocating the necessity of finding "alternatives" merely confirms the validity of animal-based research, which in fact has no validity at all.

Obviously, the fact that vivisection could be stopped today, thereby greatly benefiting human health, should be widely and stentorously advertised by the AV societies, who should instruct their members accordingly, organize marches on Parliament and Downing Street. But then their "Funds for Replacement" would make no sense. To persuade the uninformed AVs to contribute generously to those unnecessary but lucrative Funds and Trusts, it is necessary first of all to convince the members that animal experimentation is useful, indeed indispensable - at least "for the time being". And in this the British (and many other) societies have been eminently successful.

No "alternative" could ever be developed to "study" crap like this:

"An attempt has been made to assess the effect of injury (limb ischaemia, scald) on the central serotoninergic system of the rat by studying the effect of these injuries on the tryptophan concentration, the tryptophan hydroxylase activity and the metabolism of serotonin in the hypothalamus, mid-brain and hind-brain. The effects of a serotin uptake inhibitor and an antagonist on the survival time and mortality rate after limb ischaemia have been examined as well as the effects of central lesions produced by the injection of 5,6- and 5,7dihydroxytryptamine into a lateral cerebral ventricle and the i.p. injection (+)4-cloroamphetamine . . ."

It goes on and on, indicating that millions of rats have been traumatized, scalded, injured in every way ever devised by mad scientists, who then continue to be fascinated and baffled at the same time at the sight of what they did: "No definite conclusion can be drawn. . . The functional state of 5HT neurons cannot be assessed. . . The interpretation of these tests may be difficult. . . They can probably provide the best biochemical evidence. . ."

In coming Bulletins, CIVIS will translate cryptic sample passages from such prestigious, pseudo-scientific publications as British Experimental Pathology into everyday English. They will demonstrate, even to the least discriminating reader, that, like the squid, today's laboratory laborers surround themselves with clouds of ink just to escape their pursuers, but produce nothing else. Even the most naive layperson will then recognize that the Empress that passes for medical research today is naked indeed.
